John Hrovat, OAA, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C

In the practice of Architecture John has focused on bringing his creativity, passion and commitment to design excellence across a broad range of building typologies including many cultural healthcare, workplace, education, historic preservation/renovation projects. His career has focused on applying an Integrated Design Process approach as Lead Design Architect/Project Principal in conceptual design, technical details, specifications across all technical disciplines throughout the project life-cycle. In addition, he also brings a strong history of building client relationships as part of his role of project principal that stems from the very beginnings of project pursuits to final close-out and post-occupancy check-ins.

John’s business and design philosophies have pushed for environmentally sensitive design considerations including the preserving of historic and iconic structures while also making the world a greener place. Adaptive re-use, historic preservation, introduction of natural lighting, proper solar orientation, adoption of alternative energy sources, reclamation of brown-field sites and perhaps most importantly how the end result will affect the community are a few of his professional passions. To that end, immersing himself in the client’s culture, learning the ins and outs of their business, goals and community expectations for the project facilitate the successful financial, technical and design excellence outcomes in his work.

John also believes strongly in giving back to the profession and community.   His continuous involvement in the Ontario Association of Architects local society, The Windsor Region Society of Architects (WRSA) for 20 years (chairperson for 8 years), and ongoing part-time faculty at St. Clair College has facilitated involvement in activities focusing on professional development, and community outreach through countless events and initiatives.
