Sir John Moore was built in 1999 to serve the growing community of Corunna, Ontario. Currently, it has a student population of over 440 students alongside 36 staff, whose primary responsibilities are safety and instruction of children. The organization of the school provides a compact footprint, minimizing internal circulation while maximizing functional teaching space. Special programs offered through Sir John Moore include French Immersion and Ojibwe. The northern most wing of the school facilitates recreational activity, providing a Community Centre and Gymnasium with secured access to accommodate after hours programs and community rentals.
The use of technology at Sir John Moore propels learning, as all of their classrooms are equipped with smartboards, while blogs and digital tools are used as key communication tools between families and staff. Learning is supported by numerous volunteers as well as a school council. Extra-curricular activities include a wide variety of sports, leadership opportunities, i.e. the Peer Buddies program, and a choir.
